THE RICOCHET RULE: GUN SAFETY FOR NEW YORK-12

NY’S PROBLEM:

New York has done its part to pass strong gun safety laws, but those efforts are undermined by weak laws in other states.

Most guns used in New York crimes come from out of state, trafficked in from places with softer gun control. Between 2017 and 2021, 80% of guns recovered from New York crime scenes had crossed state lines.

Other states’ failures shouldn’t put our communities at risk.

JACK’S SOLUTION:

Jack’s Ricochet Rule holds states accountable for exporting gun violence.

Jack would impose federal penalties on states whose firearms are found at New York crime scenes and fund a joint ATF–DOJ task force to target trafficking networks and enforce the law across state lines.

THE RESULT:

Fewer illegal guns. Stronger enforcement. Safer communities.

Not just in New York. Everywhere.
